Chiefs Snag 3-1 Win
|
The Peoria Chiefs had to overcome a good performance from Quad Cities pitcher Derek Lyons to claim a 3-1 win at Modern Woodmen Park. Lyons went 6 innings and allowed 1 run. Reliever Victor Elizondo picked up the win. His record improves to 3-1. Chris Earle took the loss. Juan Herrera collected save number 18.
Both teams had trouble manufacturing runs. So, Chris North's at-bat in the top of the tenth was critical. With one out, the Peoria catcher hit a run-scoring single, to give his team a 2-1 lead.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," North said.
At 60-57, the Chiefs claim 5th place in the Western Division.
