Cougars Show Nerve in Tight 9-8 Win

In a high-scoring game between Kane County and Peoria, right fielder Mike Morales was a difference-maker. The 24-year-old helped Kane County grab the 9-8 win. He went 3-5 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Kane County reliever Pat Ford picked up the win, raising his record to 7-3. Jake Prince was tagged with the loss. The 5th-place Cougars are now 35-50, the Chiefs 31-54.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With one out, Morales hit a fastball from Jake Prince for a run-scoring single. The Cougars, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
In comments to the Kane County Times, Morales admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
