Expos Topple Guardians, 3-1

Pitcher Gabe Helmstetter was sensational for the Montreal Expos in his team's 3-1 triumph over the Cleveland Guardians. Helmstetter picked up the win, and it was well-earned. The winning pitcher was Helmstetter, now 1-1. He tossed 6.2 innings of 1-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 6. Mike Fenchel closed the door for Montreal, picking up his 10th save of the year.
Andres del Valle went 1-3 with a walk against the Guardians. In the bottom of the first inning, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run, putting Montreal in front, 1-0.
In postgame remarks to the Montreal News, del Valle was in a reflective mood. "Sometimes," he said, "I can't believe my good luck. Playing a game and making a living at it."
The win gives Montreal a record of 19-8.
