River Bandits Down Bees, 2-1
|
Starting pitcher Billy Martin gave the Quad Cities River Bandits a rock-solid effort. The Worland, Wyoming native helped his team defeat the Burlington Bees, 2-1, at Community Field. The win gives Quad Cities a season record of 39-32.
Quad Cities needed the clutch hitting of Jose Diaz to seal the deal. The right fielder swatted a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the River Bandits on top, 1-0. For the game, Diaz had 1 home run and 2 singles in 8 at-bats.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Diaz said.
