Dragons Suffer 6-5 Setback
|
The South Bend Cubs topped the Dayton Dragons, 6-5, in Midwest League action at Four Winds Field at Coveleski Stadium. The standout performance belonged to South Bend pitcher and Alameda, California, native Josh Kessler. South Bend reliever Chris Franks picked up the win, raising his record to 2-2. Bob Martin was tagged with the loss. The Cubs improve their record to 30-25 with the win over Dayton.
C.J. West was the walk-off hero for South Bend. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Cubs left fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"It wasn't our best performance," said Kessler, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
