Mets Drop Brewers, 4-3
|
The inspired effort of Milwaukee designated hitter Ramon Alcaraz was not enough to prevent a loss, 4-3, to the New York Mets. Alcaraz went 2-4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. New York pitcher Vinny Yanez got the win. He's now 2-0. Steve Chitwood was tagged with the loss. The win lifts New York to a record of 15-7.
The Mets relied on right fielder Ben Long for the game-winning hit. And, in the bottom of the 11th, he delivered, hitting a run-scoring single to seal the deal.
"There are times you get yourself out and there are times you come through," Long said. "That's how it goes."
