Yankees Sting Blue Jays, 8-4
|
The New York Yankees weathered an outstanding game by Toronto right fielder Tim Bowley to topple the Blue Jays, 8-4. Bowley went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times. Mitch Fegley, credited with the win, is now 2-0. He allowed 1 run on 5 hits. Justin Long closed the game out for New York, earning his 3rd save.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, first baseman Israel Armendariz came through big-time for the Yankees. With New York trailing 3-0, he belted a 3-run home run.
"I'm proud to wear a New York jersey," Armendariz told the New York Chronicle. "We played a good game and came out with the win. What more can you ask for?"
The Blue Jays drop to 10-12 and continue their mediocre start to the 2039 season.
