Cardinals Stick Threshers with 8-4 Loss
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Palm Beach Cardinals and Clearwater Threshers.
Clearwater first baseman Steve Shore was sensational. He was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Palm Beach beat the Threshers, 8-4. Josh Conner was the winning pitcher. Over 7.2 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 6 hits, with 1 walk and 4 strikeouts.
Steve O'Malley hit a run-scoring double off Ed Frost in the bottom of the seventh, which put the Cardinals in front, 5-4. In addition to the double, O'Malley had 1 single, while going 2 for 4.
"The most important thing is that we won," O'Malley said.
With the win, the Cardinals improved to 53-57.
