Red Sox Sneak By Guardians, 3-2
|
The Boston Red Sox had to overcome a good performance from Cleveland pitcher Butch Eggleston to claim a 3-2 win at Fenway Park. Eggleston went 5 innings and allowed 2 runs. The Red Sox, with only their 5th win in 22 games, could be the worst team in the league.
In the bottom of the ninth inning, Joe Merrill won the game for the Red Sox, walloping a solo home run. For the game, Merrill went 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks.
After the game, Boston manager Junior Zamora applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
