Flying Tigers Snatch Late Win
|
Doug Stanley was outstanding against Daytona. The left-hander, who is tied for 7th in the with a 9 quality starts, had a fastball that was virtually unhittable at times. The result was a Flying Tigers 7-5 win. Lakeland reliever Robert Henandez picked up the win, upping his record to 5-2. Willie Tirado absorbed the loss. The Flying Tigers go to 51-34, putting them second in the FSL North.
Lakeland needed the clutch hitting of Robby Madison to notch the win. The shortstop hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the 13th inning to put the Flying Tigers on top, 7-5. For the game, Madison had 1 home run and 1 single in 6 at-bats.
"I had a good game plan," said Stanley. "I made my pitches." His manager concurred. "It was all there," Luis Saturria said, "the velocity, the sharpness of his pitches."
