Red Sox Snag 8-6 Win
|
Oakland designated hitter Eric Boatright was sensational. He went 2-6 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Boston beat the Athletics, 8-6. The win belongs to Charlie Bartholomew in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Nelson Cobian took the loss for Oakland. Marc Triplett closed the game out for Boston, earning his 1st save.
Boston needed the clutch hitting of Juan Burruel to notch the win. The center fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the 11th inning to put the Red Sox on top, 8-6. For the game, Burruel had 1 home run and 1 single in 6 at-bats.
"We need to string a few more wins like this one together," said Burruel.
The Red Sox, now 4-15, have not found much traction so far in 2039.
