Orioles Beat Cubs, 3-1
|
In a low-scoring clash between Baltimore and Chicago, pitcher Randy Klatka was a difference-maker. The right-hander earned accolades in the 3-1 win. Klatka picked up the win for Baltimore, going 8 innings. He gave up 1 run on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 1-2. Mike Sharp sewed up the save, his 5th.
The Orioles got an important contribution from left fielder Adam Carrier, who in the bottom of the fifth punched a first pitch fastball into left-center for a run-scoring double. It was his 1st double of the season and put the Orioles ahead, 2-0.
"I tried to mix it up, keep them off balance," said Klatka.
The loss puts Chicago at 6-11.
