The Lynchburg Hillcats did little to support starter Mike Larson against the Salem Red Sox, but it turned out he didn't need the help.

The right-hander spun a complete game shutout against the Red Sox, striking out 7 and surrendering 7 hits. The performance from Larson allowed Lynchburg to escape with the 2-0 win despite an anemic offense.

"Nobody came to me and said 'Mike, we're gonna need you to win this one for us today,' but I could feel it," Larson told BNN reporters following the win. "I'm the guy that will step up for you when you need it."
