Myrtle Beach Pelicans starter Kevin McCarty was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Wilmington Blue Rocks, 7-1. McCarty picked up the win for Myrtle Beach, going 8.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 13-8. Myrtle Beach is now 63-52. Wilmington is 53-62.
The Pelicans grabbed the lead in the top of the second. With no one out, Nate de la Garza hit a 2-run home run off Sean Satriano, putting Myrtle Beach in front, 3-0. For de la Garza, it was his 2nd home run of the season.
"We take it day by day here," said McCarty, "and today was a good one for us."
