Cubs Knock Off Cardinals, 5-4
|
The Chicago Cubs topped the St. Louis Cardinals, 5-4, in National League action at Wrigley Field. The game was highlighted by the performance of Chicago pitcher Josh Robinson. The Cubs, with just their 5th win so far in 2039, have yet to catch fire.
One of the clutch hits for Chicago came from one of their biggest talents. In the bottom of the seventh with two out, Bob Willin, who won the Most Valuable Player Award in 2037, hit a run-scoring single to put the Cubs up, 5-4. For the game, the first baseman was 2 for 3 with 2 singles and was hit by a pitch.
"Nice to tuck this win away," said Robinson.
