Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Pelicans
|
Fans who congregated at BB&T Ballpark were treated to extra-inning drama.
The Myrtle Beach Pelicans got a stellar performance from pitcher George Cannon, who handcuffed the Winston-Salem offense en route to a win, 4-1, at BB&T Ballpark. Myrtle Beach reliever Bob Aleman picked up the win to move to 2-1. Mike Wade suffered the loss. Dave Murphy earned the save, his 1st, for the Pelicans.
Myrtle Beach used a clutch hit from Victor Ramirez to get the win. The left fielder drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Pelicans ahead, 4-1. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a doozy.
"Our guys refused to lose," said Cannon.
The Pelicans go to 26-16, putting them second in the Southern Division.
