Hillcats Knock Off Dash, 9-3
|
Though the conditions were not ideal, the Lynchburg Hillcats and Winston-Salem Dash came back from a rain delay to finish their game.
The Lynchburg Hillcats racked up a win at Calvin Falwell Field, bumping off the Winston-Salem Dash, 9-3. Eric Upton, who started for Lynchburg, pitched effectively for his team. With the win, Lynchburg goes to 22-17, while the Dash fall to 17-22.
There were several reasons the Hillcats beat the Dash, but one factor was Alfredo Reina. In the bottom of the first, the Lynchburg designated hitter came to bat and hit a run-scoring single. It staked his team to a 1-0 lead.
"Glad to get this win," said Upton. "But we need to keep playing at a high level."
