Blue Jays Come Back Late, Nip Phillies
|
Philadelphia got a big-time effort from pitcher Kevin Nihart, but it wasn't enough to keep the Toronto Blue Jays from winning the game, 3-2. Nihart threw 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Toronto reliever Ndrèu Seseri picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Brad Vaughn was saddled with the loss. Toronto sits at 5-6.
Toronto used the timely hitting of Chad Chapman to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Blue Jays on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We were in it," said Philadelphia manager Tyler L. Johnson. "We just didn't score enough runs."
