Ports Suffer 3-2 Setback
Fans got some free baseball at Banner Island Ballpark.

The Inland Empire 66ers took Stockton pitcher Chris Melchiorre's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Banner Island Ballpark. The final score had Inland Empire getting past the Ports, 3-2. Melchiorre went 5 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 6. Doug Price snagged the win in relief. In 2 innings, the right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits. He's now 4-1 on the season.

Inland Empire used the clutch hitting of Montes Donzelli to capture the win. The second baseman drilled a solo home run in the top of the 11th inning to put the 66ers ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a big one.

"I just tried to make good contact," said Donzelli.

The 66ers improve their record to 27-20 with the win over Stockton.
