The Inland Empire 66ers picked up a win at Recreation Park, downing the Visalia Rawhide, 5-3. On the mound for Inland Empire was right-hander Danny Van Wagoner, who played a pivotal role in the win. The win belonged to Geoff Fitzgerald in relief. His record improves to 3-2. Pete Glynn took the loss for Visalia. Pete Thomas finished the game for Inland Empire and earned his 1st save.

Inland Empire used the clutch hitting of Eric Byers to snag the win. The designated hitter drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the 66ers ahead, 5-3. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.

"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Van Wagoner.

Inland Empire is now 20-24, while Visalia is 17-27.
