The Midland RockHounds faced a tough opponent in Corpus Christi pitcher Josh Ames, but found a way to pull out the victory at Whataburger Field by a final score of 7-5 in 10 innings. Ames went 6.2 innings and allowed 3 runs. Midland pitcher Derek Waggoner earned the win, hiking his record to 1-0. Steve Henderson suffered the loss. The Hooks, now 56-78, have lost 5 in a row.

Midland used the timely hitting of Angel Ortiz to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the RockHounds on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"This team is real focused right now," said Midland manager Joel Noboa.
