The Corpus Christi Hooks beat the Frisco RoughRiders, 2-1, at Dr. Pepper Ballpark. Starting pitcher Savion Brown was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Brown, now 7-5, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 8, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. Dave Binkley earned the save for Corpus Christi, his 23rd of the year.

The outcome turned when Roman Dalgaard came to bat in the top of the seventh. With two out and runners on 1st and 2nd, the Corpus Christi shortstop hit a run-scoring single. It gave his team the lead and helped them secure the win.

"Every loss stings," said Frisco manager Gered Mochizuki. "This one is no exception."

The second-place Hooks now have a win-loss record of 35-28.
