Atlanta and San Diego got after it at Petco Park.
Atlanta Braves pitcher Tony Shockley was in fine form, leading his team past the San Diego Padres, 4-1. Shockley picked up the win for Atlanta, going 7 innings. He gave up 1 run on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 1-0. Steve Epperson was credited with the save for Atlanta, his 2nd of the season.
In the top of the first, Ed Long pounced on a cutter from Jason Cammon and hit a 2-run single. It gave Atlanta a quick 2-0 lead.
"It was a solid team effort," said Shockley after the game.
Atlanta goes to 4-2.
