Late Magic Gets Amarillo 5-2 Win
|
The Amarillo Sod Poodles beat the Midland RockHounds by a score of 5-2. Amarillo designated hitter Willie Gonzalez deserved the lion's share of the credit. Gonzalez went 2-5 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Sod Poodles. Amarillo reliever Ken Blackman picked up the win, raising his record to 2-1. Ian Billington was tagged with the loss. Amarillo has a record of 17-22, placing them third in the South Division.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With two out, Gonzalez hit a fastball from Ian Billington for a 3-run home run. The Sod Poodles, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"We need to string a few more wins like this one together," said Gonzalez.
