The Springfield Cardinals outlasted the Frisco RoughRiders in an extra-inning thriller.

The Frisco RoughRiders got a sterling performance from pitcher Jon Sanders, but the Springfield Cardinals still prevailed, 5-4. Sanders threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball. Kevin Krohn got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 3 innings. Danny Culler finished the game for Springfield and earned his 5th save.

This game was not decided until Rod Nieves came to bat in the top of the tenth. With the bases loaded and one out, the Springfield designated hitter hit a sacrifice fly. The Cardinals took the lead, 5-4.

"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Nieves.
