Guardians Turn Away White Sox, 5-4
|
The Cleveland Guardians did just enough to secure a victory over the Chicago White Sox, 5-4, at Progressive Field. Nobody did more than left fielder Doug Palmer. Bobby Bassett earned the save, his 2nd. The win leaves Cleveland with a record of 2-2.
Palmer had a timely hit for Cleveland in the bottom of the seventh. With Chicago trailing 4-2, he turned a first pitch fastball into a 3-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season, making it 5-4, Cleveland.
"Nice to tuck this win away," said Palmer.
