The Mississippi Braves topped the Biloxi Shuckers, 9-1, in Southern League action at MGM Park. The standout performance belonged to Mississippi pitcher and Pharr, Texas, native Phil Jostes. Jostes went 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5. His record improves to 5-5. Mississippi, at 48-30, holds down first place in the South Division.

In the top of the first, with Mississippi leading 1-0, Rick Parkman hit a changeup from Steve Pope for a bases-clearing double, giving the Braves the lead, 4-0.

"We'll hit the hot tub in good spirits tonight," said Parkman.
