Woods Hits 2 home runs in Cardinals Win
|
The bad news for the Cincinnati Reds: an opening day loss, 6-3, to the St. Louis Cardinals at Great American Ball Park. The good news: it was just game one in a long season. No one played better than Tyler Woods. He hit 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 4. Pat Pedretti was the winner. Over 5 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 5 hits, with 1 walk and 4 strikeouts. Alex Velasquez recorded his 1st save for St. Louis.
Early in the game, Woods had a 2-run home run for St. Louis. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Cardinals on top, 4-2.
Woods attributed the win to "everyone pulling their weight."
