Mets Get 6-5 Win Versus Rochester
Mets third baseman Al Proano put his stamp on his team's 6-5 win over the Rochester Red Wings. Proano was 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for Syracuse in the contest. Phil Gill earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 3 runs on 4 hits in 1.2 innings. He upped his record to 2-0. Danny Garza earned the save, his 10th, for the Mets.

Proano had a timely hit for Syracuse in the top of the sixth. With Rochester trailing 4-2, he turned a 2-2 cutter into a grand slam home run. It was his 1st home run of the season, making it 6-4, Syracuse.

"First place," said Mets manager Jose Mosquera. "This is right where we want to be."

Syracuse goes to 85-47, Rochester to 64-68.
