Mets Cut Down Knights, 6-0
|
The Charlotte Knights got a superb performance from pitcher Steve Borneman. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Syracuse. The Mets won the game, 6-0. Borneman threw 5.0 innings of 3-hit ball. Syracuse reliever Jeremy Marshall picked up the win, upping his record to 8-6. Steve Borneman was saddled with the loss. The victory gives the Mets a record of 79-47.
Contributing to the Syracuse win was Chris Hale. In the bottom of the fourth, the 24-year old right fielder had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. That made the score 2-0, the Mets in front.
Hale called the win the result of "everyone working in tandem."
