Lehigh Valley Topples Gwinnett, 5-1
|
Lehigh Valley beat Gwinnett on the strength of starter Victor Ramos's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 5-1. Ramos went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 2. His record improves to 12-3. Danny Tavarez was called on to finish, recording his 26th save.
Sam Taylor came through for Lehigh Valley when he hit a 2-run double in the bottom of the second. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a two-strike sinker to center field, staking his team to a 2-0 lead.
"This was a good win for us," said Taylor. "It's one more step toward our ultimate goal."
Lehigh Valley is now 83-40, while Gwinnett is 60-63.
