Kandle Propels Stripers to 12-6 Win
The home crowd had a good time watching the Syracuse Mets and Gwinnett Stripers get after it.

Pete Kandle was instrumental in his team's 12-6 triumph over the Syracuse Mets. The second baseman hit 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 5 for the Gwinnett Stripers. Choji Taira, the winning pitcher, improved to 8-4. He pitched 6.1 innings, giving up 4 hits and 1 run, while striking out 6 and walking 2.

Kandle contributed when he hit a grand slam home run in the bottom of the seventh. Coming with one out and the bases loaded, the home run proved to be critical to helping Gwinnett get the win.

"We're in a marathon, not a sprint," Kandle said in postgame remarks. "Soon enough, the finish line will be in sight."

With the win, Gwinnett raised its record to 71-42.
