Mud Hens Cut Down Stripers, 5-2
|
Toledo took on Gwinnett in front of a lively crowd.
Toledo designated hitter Toby Gelber made his presence felt in the 5-2 Mud Hens triumph over the Gwinnett Stripers. Gelber was 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The winner in relief was Chris Majestic. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 5 hits in 3 innings. He now owns a record of 1-0. Ed Pratt locked down his 4th save.
The Mud Hens got an important contribution from right fielder Isaiah Jackson, who in the bottom of the fourth knocked a 2-0 changeup into center for a bases-clearing double. It was his 18th double of the season and put the Mud Hens ahead, 5-1.
Gelber called the triumph "a good team win."
Toledo, at 35-52, sits in third place in the West Division.
