Toledo got a valiant performance from pitcher Eric Smith, but it wasn't enough to beat the Rochester Red Wings. Rochester won the game, 3-2. Smith threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. The 4th-place Red Wings sport a record of 42-44.

In the bottom of the ninth, with two out and the game tied, 2-2, third baseman Mike Kimble won it for Rochester. With runners on 1st and 3rd, Kimble hit a first pitch fastball from Kevin Clayton for a run-scoring single, giving his team the 3-2 win.

"This game had its share of tense moments," Kimble said, postgame.
