The El Paso Chihuahuas trumped the Las Vegas Aviators, 13-4, at Las Vegas Ballpark. El Paso center fielder Jerry Green was terrific. He was 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. The winning pitcher was Rich Galindo. He tossed 93 pitches over 6 innings, allowing 4 runs on 8 hits. The second-place Chihuahuas sport a record of 62-47.

There were several reasons the Chihuahuas beat the Aviators, but one factor was Joe Kussmaul. In the top of the fourth, the El Paso first baseman came to bat and hit a 2-run single. It staked his team to a 5-3 lead.

"Winning is the only thing that really matters," Kussmaul told the El Paso Daily News. "If you can win without even breaking a sweat, more power to you."
