The Sacramento River Cats beat the El Paso Chihuahuas, 11-5, at Southwest University park. Sacramento third baseman Pat Gettys had an outstanding performance. He went 3-4 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 4. The win was credited to Manny Gutierrez in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Sean Huebner took the loss. The River Cats go to 33-30, putting them second in the Pacific Conference North Division.

In the top of the third inning, the River Cats grabbed the lead when Jamie Strickland rapped a two-out double. Sacramento was trailing 1-0, when Strickland hit a 2-run double off Sean Huebner to put his team in front, 2-1.

"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Strickland.
