Orioles Snag 4-1 Win
|
Boston got a terrific performance from pitcher Mike Dunk, but it wasn't enough to beat the Baltimore Orioles. Baltimore won the Fenway Park contest, 4-1. Dunk threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. Baltimore reliever Doug Davis picked up the win to move to 7-4. Marc Triplett suffered the loss. Baltimore raised its record to 86-74 with the win.
Baltimore used a clutch hit from Hector Padilla to get the win. The first baseman drilled a grand slam home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Orioles ahead, 4-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Padilla said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
