Washington and Atlanta met in a late-season matchup.
Washington left-hander Alex Ortis pitched his team to victory over the Atlanta Braves at Truist Park. The final score was 6-3. Ortis, now 10-12, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 3, walking 3, and allowing 2 runs. Earning his 9th save of the year was Jake Martinson.
The Nationals grabbed the lead in the top of the third. With two out, Wilburt Goldman hit a 3-run home run off Mike Micklewright, putting Washington in front, 5-0. For Goldman, it was his 26th home run of the season.
"For the most part, I made good pitches when I needed to," said Ortis.
