Blue Jays Trip Red Sox, 4-3, in Extra Innings
|
With left fielder Brad Peterson leading the charge, the Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Boston Red Sox, 4-3, at Fenway Park. Peterson, who finished 3rd in the AL in triples with 8 in 2037, was 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Chris Griffiths earned the save for Toronto, his 1st. The Blue Jays move to 56-102 with the win, while the Red Sox drop to 69-89.
In the top of the 13th, Toronto catcher Chad Ignas stroked a run-scoring single to right field. The clutch hit put the Blue Jays in front, 4-3.
"That was your kind of game, if you like high drama," said Blue Jays manager Scott Lieser.
