The Houston Astros got a superb performance from shortstop Tony Bustamante. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Montreal. The Expos won the game, 4-3. Bustamante went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. Dave Blackstone, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 31st save. The Expos go to 88-70, putting them second in the American League East Division.

Nate Petite put Montreal in front, 4-0, when he hit a solo home run off Andry Lara in the bottom of the third. It was his 36th home run of the season.

"Our goal is to improve each and every day," Petite told the Montreal News.
