Rangers Clip Mets, 6-5
|
The Texas Rangers stopped the New York Mets, 6-5, at Citi Field. The Rangers got a big game from Jim Fleming, who went 2-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Francisco Crispin got credit for the save for Texas. It was his 37th of the year. Texas, at 93-63, holds down second place in the American League West Division.
Fleming had a timely hit for Texas in the top of the ninth. With New York trailing 5-3, he turned a 2-2 cutter into a 3-run home run. It was his 11th home run of the season, making it 6-5, Texas.
"There's a lot of passion in our clubhouse," said Fleming. "When we put it together we're a great ball club."
