Despite a great performance by Montreal right fielder Nate Petite, the Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Expos by the score of 7-6 at Rogers Centre. Petite was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Joe Jamison picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 3-9. Mike Johnson was tagged with the loss. Toronto is now 55-101.

The Blue Jays took the lead, 6-5, in the bottom of the sixth. Chad Chapman had the clutch at-bat. With no one out and the bases loaded, he hit a 2-run single.

"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Chapman.
