Blue Jays Knock Off Expos, 3-1
|
Toronto starter J.D. Copeland put a stranglehold on the Montreal offense. The right-hander had complete command of his slider in leading the Blue Jays to a 3-1 win. The Blue Jays saw their win-loss record go to 54-101. At the same time, the Expos fell to 87-67.
Leon Bonometti had a big hit for Toronto in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Toronto leading 1-0, Bonometti hit a run-scoring double. It was his 10th double of the season and put the Blue Jays up, 2-0.
"I just tried to attack the bottom of the zone," Copeland said.
