Athletics Spill Twins, 6-5
|
The Minnesota Twins and Oakland Athletics were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
The performance of Nate Gordon proved critical in helping Oakland beat Minnesota, 6-5. The Athletics third baseman went 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. The winner was Doug Mroczka in relief. His record improves to 5-0. Dan Gillispie took the loss.
In the top of the ninth, Gordon hit a solo home run to put his team on top. The Athletics would go on to win the game.
"We won," Gordon told assembled media after the game. "I guess that's all that really matters."
The Athletics, at 69-75, sit in 4th place in the American League West Division.
