The Milwaukee Brewers got a sterling performance from pitcher Jim Vaughn, but the Cincinnati Reds still prevailed, 4-3. Vaughn threw 5.0 innings allowing 3 runs. Cincinnati, at 70-74, holds down last place in the National League Central Division.

The Reds beat the Brewers with some clutch hitting. The single by Jose Gonzalez in the top of the ninth is a good example. With two down, Gonzalez gave his team the lead, 4-3, when he came through with the big hit.

"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Gonzalez said.
