Mets Hang 5-1 Loss on Nationals
|
The New York Mets stopped the Washington Nationals, 5-1, at Citi Field. The Mets got a big game from Dave Knight, who was 2-3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks. He scored 2 times. J.J. McNamee earned the win to go to 14-2. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits, with 3 walks and 4 strikeouts in 5.1 innings of work. The Nationals, now 56-88, have lost 4 in a row.
The Mets got a gift in the bottom of the sixth inning, when they were leading 2-1. With two out and the bases loaded, Ben Long reached on an error by the P, driving in 1 run. It made the score 3-1, New York.
"The vibe's good," said New York manager Hunter Smith. "We've got to keep it going."
