Athletics Snatch Late Win

The Oakland Athletics had to overcome a fine performance from Los Angeles pitcher R.J. Ingram to grab a 3-1 win at Oakland Coliseum. Ingram allowed no runs over 7 innings. Josh Powers notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. His record now sits at 4-4. The last-place Athletics are now 46-84, the Angels 63-67.
The game ended with a bang. In the bottom of the ninth, with Oakland trailing 1-0, Ben Welbes jumped on a first pitch fastball from Ferdinand Schleisher for a 3-run home run, sending the Athletics to a walk-off win.
"Tough loss," said Los Angeles manager Jason Stidham. "But we'll learn from it."
