Expos Win, 4-1, Extend Streak to 4 Games
|
Montreal Expos starter Erik Dickman was in fine form. He led his team to victory over the Toronto Blue Jays, 4-1. Dave Blackstone recorded the save, his 22nd. The win elevated the Expos to 74-57.
Frank Vergara had a big 2-run home run for the Expos in the bottom of the first inning. With Montreal leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a splitter from Josh Weimer and swatted a home run to right. It was his 5th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Expos ahead, 3-0.
"When this team comes together and plays the way we can, we can compete with anyone," said Vergara. "I think we're going to keep proving that."
