Angels Lose to Yankees, 2-1
|
The New York Yankees faced a tough opponent in Los Angeles pitcher Dan Corty, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Angel Stadium of Anaheim by a final score of 2-1. Corty went 5.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. Reliever Nesty Huerta picked up the win. His record improves to 4-0. Dan Corty took the loss. The Yankees saw their win-loss record go to 78-51. At the same time, the Angels fell to 55-76.
New York used a well-timed hit by David Herrera to capture the win. The catcher socked a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Yankees ahead, 2-1. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"We scored one run," said Los Angeles manager Mark Weist. "You're not gonna get a lot of Ws scoring just one run."
