Brewers Handled by Atlanta, 7-4
|
Atlanta took on Milwaukee in front of a lively crowd.
The Atlanta Braves beat the Milwaukee Brewers, 7-4, at Truist Park. Mike Hammond, in particular, was impressive. He went 1-4 with a home run, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. Mike Micklewright, the winner, improved to 1-0. He held the Brewers to 4 runs on 6 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 3. Steve Epperson got the save, his 32nd in 36 chances.
Robert Musco delivered a big hit for the Braves. The veteran third baseman belted a 3-run home run in the bottom of the third. The longball put Atlanta on top, 3-3. Overall, Musco went 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.
Musco told a local reporter: "My job is to go out and play as hard as I can."
The Brewers, now 63-62, have lost 5 straight.
